Within Regione Lombardia structure, the Directorate General Welfare is responsible to govern the Lombardy Social Health System and ensure that Lombardy 10 million citizens are provided with effective, efficient and appropriate health- and social care as well as health services in general.
The guiding principles of the Lombardy welfare system are the centrality of the person and the freedom of choice. The “Regional Prevention Plan (PRP) 2014-2018” was approved by the Regional Council, and identifies 10 macro objectives of high strategic value, which can be pursued through the development of integrated and transversal regional actions. One focal program is designed specifically to prevent chronicity (targeting the ageing population at risk of cognitive impairment).
